Top Features of Base Model

  • 3-zone climate control
  • 12-way power adjustable front seats
  • Full LED headlamps with Cornering Technology
  • 10 speed automatic transmission in the 2019 model
  • V8 420 hp 6.2L engine (carried over from the 2018 model year)
  • Sturdy design

The Cadillac Escalade ESV Premium is, by far, one of the most advanced SUVs you can find on the luxury vehicle market. It has been tweaked only a little from 2018 and previous model years.

The Escalade ESV Premium is the second highest trim level in the Escalade family that includes the SUV and the ESV in standard, luxury, premium luxury, and platinum models. It has a towing capacity of 8,100 for the 2WD models and features a 420 HP engine for plenty of power.

How is the Space Used in the Cadillac Escalade?

All models seat the same number of passengers (eight) and feature the same engine size and 10-speed automatic transmission. However, the premium holds a good 21 cubic feet more cargo space than the standard trim level. Only the Chevy Suburban, the Ford Expedition Max and the GMC Yukon XL have more cargo space than the ESV Premium Luxury and Platinum models.

Other Features in the Escalade ESV

Other top features for this vehicle include a 3-zone climate control, fully adjustable front seats, and an LED headlamp/taillight system for night driving. The passengers in the ESV Premium are treated to a level of entertainment not found in many other SUVs of this size. Both the second- and third-row seats feature a full complement of entertainment options, details of which include:

  • Wireless headphones
  • Blu-ray™ playback
  • HDMI/USB ports
  • Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities
  • 9-inch diagonal screen

Trips with children in the 2019 Cadillac Escalade are easy with these small details that allow you to keep them entertained while on the go. With the ability to access and search the internet, you can also conduct business and stay connected while driving, making this the perfect vehicle for families where one or both parents work and need to maintain contact with business associates.

For those with shorter frames or decreased strength, the power assist steps will be a godsend. These will lower the moment you open your door for a safe and easy step down to the ground. No more straining under heavy loads or wondering if you will make it safely onto the ground without taking a tumble. This feature can also help young children more easily get in and out of the Escalade ESV.

What Kind of Transmission Does the Escalade ESV Offer?

The 10-speed automatic transmission on this 2019 SUV allows for virtually instantaneous shifts to accommodate any driving condition, whether up a steep incline, across rough roads, or coasting down a country lane. The V8 engine offers optimal power to transport you and your crew from place to place.

Target Market

The pricing and target market for the 2019 Cadillac ESV Premium includes families and those who travel a lot. While families will appreciate the roominess of this vehicle, those who spend a lot of time driving will enjoy the feeling of spaciousness offered by the “open floor plan” in the 2019 Cadillac Escalade. With plenty of room for baggage and equipment, this is the perfect option for the traveling businessperson who needs extra space.

What Is the Difference Between All-Wheel Drive and Four-Wheel Drive in the Cadillac Escalade?

All-wheel-drive vehicles temporarily transfer power to all four wheels when the computer system senses the need to do so. Four-wheel drive (4x4) transfers power from two-wheel to all four wheels when the driver activates the system, usually by pushing a button or turning a switch.

What Can OnStar Do in this Cadillac Model?

OnStar in the Cadillac Escalade is an in-vehicle safety and security service system that helps ensure that you and your family remain protected while on the road. Emergency-certified OnStar advisor team members are always ready to assist you and get you the service you need. OnStar in 2019 can mean the difference between timely arrival of emergency personnel and a delayed reaction.

What Color Options are Available for the Escalade?

Changes made for the 2019 Cadillac Escalade include the exterior color palette expansion to include White Diamond Tricoat, Black Raven, Crystal Red Tintcoat, and Majestic Plum Metallic exterior. Interior color schemes include Jet Black with Jet Black Accents, Kona Brown with Jet Black Accents, and Shale with Cocoa Accents.

Model History

The truck-based Escalade was Cadillac’s number one entry into the SUV market and was first introduced in 1999 in response to the Mercedes-Benz ML-Class and the Ford Lincoln Navigator. Production began on the Escalade a mere 10 months following its approval in Arlington, Texas.

When the 1999 Cadillac Escalade was released, it was available with a four-wheel drivetrain only and featured a 255-horsepower, 5.7L Vortec V-8 engine.

The 1999 and 2000 models featured leather upholstery and a maximum load of five passengers. Although production ceased for the year 2001, by 2002, the new model was designed to be more in line with the “art and science” 2019 Cadillac theme. New styling for the Escalade ESV also included:

  • An upgraded engine (5.3L V8 with 285 horsepower)
  • A new sound system (11-speaker, 250-watt Bose audio system)
  • Third-row seating from the 2002 Escalade ESV and onward
  • HID lights (2003 Escalade ESV model year)
  • Cadillac StabiliTrak (2003 model year)

Cadillac delayed the switch to the new GMT830 chassis until February 2001 as a 2002 Cadillac model and was the last of the three General Motors full-size truck and SUV brands to make the change.

Rear-wheel-drive remained standard on both the Cadillac ESV and EXT models with the Vortec 6.0 L V8 engine. This became the number one engine configuration for the 2019 Cadillac ESV when the 5.3 L V8 was dropped for sales in 2005 and on all model years up to the Cadillac Escalade of today.

The fourth-generation Escalade was unveiled in 2013 in New York City, following the unveiling of General Motors, Co. next-generation SUVs. These models include all versions from 2013 to the present day. The 2019 Cadillac Escalade ESV as a new or certified pre-owned car is fully customizable with options and prices to meet the needs of every family and individual.

Rollover Note

Dynamic (moving) test results (Tip or No Tip) and measured rollover-related properties determine vehicle's risk of rollover in single vehicle crash and its rollover rating. The Rollover Resistance Rating utilizes a "fishhook" maneuver which is a series of abrupt turns at varying speeds to see how "top-heavy" a vehicle is.

Male: Average sized adult male dummy in 35-MPH crash into fixed barrier. Rating is evaluation of injury to head, neck, chest, legs. Female: Small-sized adult female dummy in 35-mph crash into fixed barrier. Rating is evaluation of injury to head, neck, chest, legs.
