An item’s “cool factor” is often associated its price tag. But the truth is, there’s no need to splurge in order to drive a cool car.

If you’re buying a car, there are certain things you’re looking for. For starters, it should be reasonably gas efficient. It also needs to have enough room for your stuff, be reliable, and comfortable to drive. And, more than likely, you want it to have a little stylish choix de vie.

Luckily, cool is available in a reasonable price range, which includes these four fantastic vehicles.

Dodge Challenger

This car makes our list because it resurrects the popular American muscle-car genre. There’s no doubt that you’ll find plenty of cars on the market that are faster than the Dodge Challenger. However, few match the Challenger for all-out coolness — especially when it comes to cutting a buff and gorgeous profile in the nearby parking lot. Your friends are sure to notice it next time you hang out.

The beefy lines on the Challenger are incredibly true to the brand’s original ’70s version. It looks stunning and has great features to go with it. And, if you’re looking to move up from the traditional V6 model, know that the V8-powered Hemi edition packs about 375 horsepower for less than $30,000. You can’t go wrong with this car.

Jeep Wrangler

The Wrangler Jeep lineup is straightforward — at least when it comes to the vehicle’s powertrain. The Wrangler features an incredible 285-horsepower V6 engine. The Jeep has four-wheel drive, combined with a five-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission.

By adding passenger space for up to five people, enhancing its interior storage space, and preserving the convertible top of the four-wheel drive Wrangler, Jeep allows you to bring all your family and friends with you as you embark on your all-terrain adventures. You can also justify the decision to buy a Jeep because it makes for a great daily driver.

Ford Mustang EcoBoost

As the one and only car with a four-cylinder engine on our list, the Ford Mustang is fantastic — with its turbocharged EcoBoost 2.3-liter engine and 310 horsepower. It’s really something else. The power stats are great, and the EcoBoost revs freely like a Mustang should.

The engine has been worked over extensively for more power — and it pops and snorts just how you would want it to. If you have the need for speed (but always stay within posted laws), you’ll be happy to hear about the car’s amazing acceleration numbers. Ford Mustang Ecoboost can reach 60 mph from a full stop in a snappy 5.1 seconds.

Volkswagen GTI

At first sight, the completely redesigned Volkswagen GTI may seem like a direct rival to the Ford Focus ST. But you don’t have to look long before you’ll realize the distinct and unique differences between the two cars, both in function and in personality.

While the Ford Focus is more brash and extroverted, the Volkswagen GTI is cool and collected. The car provides a more comfortable and complete driving experience in the face of the competitor’s all-in bid on extreme performance. The Volkswagen GTI is extremely fun, and it’s exciting to drive — despite only offering 210 horsepower with 258-ft lbs of torque.

The GTI has a 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It offers an extremely calm and comfortable ride, nimble and agile handling, along with an upscale cabin.
