John Voelcker

John Voelcker is an automotive journalist and industry analyst. He specializes in advanced technologies, particularly powertrains and the energy policies that affect them. Over 9 years, he wrote or edited more than 10,000 articles for and reviewed hundreds of new cars. His work also appears in Wired, Popular Science, Technology Review, IEEE Spectrum, and other periodicals, and he is a regular guest and commentator on broadcast programs including NPR's "All Things Considered." John received a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University. He splits his time among New York City, San Francisco, and the Catskill Mountains—and still hopes one day to become an international man of mystery.
